The Twin Cities Hair & Beauty Expo Steps Outside—And Into History
There are events that entertain, and then there are events that help shape a community.
For the past eight years, the Twin Cities Hair & Beauty Expo has become one of Minnesota’s signature celebrations of Black entrepreneurship, beauty, wellness, and culture. This year, the Expo enters a new chapter—one that reflects both its growth and its vision for the future.
For the first time ever, the Twin Cities Hair & Beauty Expo is stepping outside.
On Saturday, August 15, the Expo will debut its first outdoor experience as part of the Black Business Village Experience, creating an immersive destination where commerce, connection, and community converge. The move represents more than a change of venue. It signals the continued evolution of an event that has consistently expanded opportunities for Black-owned and BIPOC businesses across Minnesota.
Celebrating National Black Business Month
Held during National Black Business Month, the Expo arrives at a time when conversations around economic empowerment, community investment, and entrepreneurship take center stage.
Supporting Black-owned businesses extends far beyond a single purchase. It creates jobs. It circulates dollars within local communities. It opens doors for future entrepreneurs. And it demonstrates the collective impact that intentional consumer support can have on building generational wealth.
The Twin Cities Hair & Beauty Expo exists at that intersection—where business meets purpose.
More Than Beauty
While beauty remains at the heart of the experience, the Expo has grown into something much larger.
Visitors will discover entrepreneurs, wellness professionals, creators, service providers, and organizations working together to showcase the richness of Black excellence across multiple industries. The experience intentionally blends beauty, wellness, culture, commerce, education, and community into one destination.
It’s a reminder that entrepreneurship isn’t confined to one profession—it’s an ecosystem.
A Village in Motion
This year’s partnership with the Black Business Village Experience reflects a shared vision of cultivating spaces where businesses can thrive together.
Instead of simply attending an event, guests will experience what it looks like when entrepreneurs, families, creatives, and community leaders gather with a common purpose: supporting one another while building something larger than themselves.
The outdoor setting creates a festival-like atmosphere while preserving the Expo’s signature focus on meaningful connections and economic opportunity.
Eight Years Strong
Reaching an eighth year is a milestone few events achieve.
What began as a vision has grown into one of the region’s most recognized celebrations of Black entrepreneurship, earning coverage from every major Twin Cities television station while continuing to attract thousands of attendees and businesses year after year.
Yet, despite its growth, the mission remains unchanged:
To encourage entrepreneurship, strengthen community, elevate Black-owned businesses, and create opportunities that extend well beyond a single day.
This year’s outdoor experience isn’t simply a new location.
It’s the next chapter in a legacy that’s still being written.
The 8th Annual Twin Cities Hair & Beauty Expo en Blanc takes place Saturday, August 15, inside the Black Business Village Experience. Guests are invited to wear white and experience a day dedicated to beauty, wellness, culture, commerce, connection, and community—because this isn’t just an expo. It’s legacy work.
